Hindu Youth Forum

The Genesis

Thanks to growing consumerism and influence of western culture, the Hindu youth are nowadays ignorant of the greatness of our heritage and culture. At the same time we find that some Hindus are more inclined towards politics than understanding the roots pf their civilisation. As Rajiv Malhotra (founder of Infinity Foundation) rightly observed, “Linking Hinduism to national politics in India places it at the mercy of the ups and downs inherent in any politics. Hinduism should not to be in the hands of politicians. They are always one scandal away from being thrown out. Their personal image has started to define Indic culture's image, because they appropriated whatever they could for immediate gains politically.” The events of the last ten years have unambiguously vindicated his statement.

But at the same time, since the advent of the internet, different websites related to Hinduism have appeared on the scene.  They were mostly managed by the NRIs though we also find an increasing participation of the urban Hindu youth in such cyber activities. But interestingly enough, we also witness the decline in the participation of the same youths in the activities of the established Hindu organizations such as Ramakrishna Mission, etc.

We therefore realized that cyber activism in the absence of ground work is ineffective in bringing about a real change in the mindset of the Hindu youth today. We, therefore, felt the need to set up a new organization which will try to fill up the above lacunae and attract more urban Hindu youths towards the Hindu culture. It is with this aim in mind that Hindu Youth Forum has been formed viz. to start a modern, progressive Hindu movement across urban India (Please see Our Mission page for more details).
