Hindu Youth Forum

Our Mission

1) Start a modern, progressive Hindu movement across the cities and towns in India.

2) Attract the Hindu youth towards the Hindu culture; giving birth to the new phase of Hindu resurgence - urban, intellectual and cultural.

3) Present and propagate Hinduism - its culture, values and accomplishments in a rational and scientific manner to highlight its significance and relevance in the modern world.

Our Vision

1. Intellectual:I believe that the main cause of India’s weakness is not subjection, nor poverty … … but a diminution of thought power… Everywhere I see an inability or unwillingness to think”, said Sri Aurobindo in 1920. Nearly a century later the picture remains as grim as before. One of the foremost objectives of HYF is, therefore, to cultivate a robust intellect by reviving the spirit of Enquiry because it was this very spirit that had not only steered our Seers to discover the Eternal Truth but also paved the way for India’s excellence in diverse fields such as medical science, astronomy, geometry, phonetics & grammar, art & music, architecture & city planning, agriculture, military warfare, statecraft, metaphysics, socio-economic and political systems, etc.

Through intellectual development we also endeavour to develop the Hindu Vision by looking at the West and Ourselves, their philosophies & systems as well as ours through our own eyes and not through the borrowed glasses of Macaulayan Intellect.

2. Social: HYF seeks to instill a sense of Hindu Brotherhood by transcending caste, creed, language and nationality. We seek to open the doors of every aspect of Hindu Life to each and every member of our community and encourage the cultural and other exchanges between different social groups.

3. Cultural: ‘Charity begins at Home’ and rightfully so. However, owing to the growing consumerist culture and western influence in every aspect of our life, the greatest challenge to the Hindus is to preserve and maintain the Hindu ambience in our homes. A success in this sphere will also ensure the transmission of the Hindu Consciousness (Hindu Chetana) to the next generation irrespective of the negative external influences. HYF will continually strive to find ways and means to achieve the same.

At the macro level, HYF’s objective is to present and propagate the Hindu culture in a rational and scientific manner to highlight its significance and relevance in the modern world. In this respect, HYF appreciates the need for popularizing Sanskrit and welcomes every initiative in this direction.

4. Spiritual: Dharma has been considered to be the vehicle for both material prosperity and spiritual emancipation. Consequently, the Rishis laid down before us the four goals of Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. However, in course of time, owing to several historical factors, we lost this balanced outlook towards our World and Life and began to lay too much emphasis on Moksha alone. This attitude gradually made us negate the world as mithya (illusion) and not only led to the setback to our achievements in the spheres of both secular and profane, but was also the primary cause of the loss of our political sovereignty leading to economic, social and cultural degeneration of the Hindus Society. HYF aims at restoring this balance and revive the holistic vision of Hinduism as originally envisaged by our Seers. A revival of this Hindu Vision is all the more important because, as Sri Aurobindo puts it, “This Hindu nation was born with the Sanatan Dharma, with it, it moves and with it, it grows. When the Sanatan Dharma declines, then the nation declines, and if the Sanatan Dharma were capable of perishing, with the Sanatan Dharma it would perish.

5. Individual: Individuals are the building blocks of the Society and the Nation. It is therefore imperative that an all round development of the individual – not only as a human being but also as a productive member of the Hindu Society – is to be realized. It is HYF’s mission to inspire and guide the Hindus to imbibe the spirit of selfless service and unfaltering devotion to our Sanatan Hindu Dharma and the Hindu Society.
